Executive Director: Charlie Muessemeyer

Equipped with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education, Charlie Muessemeyer has been teaching English as a second language (ESL) since 1990. Before becoming executive director of Dogwood Literacy Council (DLC), Charlie worked with ESL programs in Arkansas and Texas. Before assuming the role of executive director, Charlie was the ESL Coordinator of DLC for two years. She has been serving as DLC’s executive director since April 2017. She loves relating with her students and learning their reasons for attending DLC’s classes, and she enjoys witnessing the positive impact of improved literacy skills within the lives of students and their communities.
