DLC took the Hmong class to JBU’s art exhibit, Cloth as Community: Hmong Textiles in America, joined by Assistant Professor Dr. Lou Cha. As our students observed the pieces, Boua Thao, one of our students, shared with us that she has passed down the very story recorded in the textile to her own daughter. Literacy is more than simply learning how to read and write because it is recorded communication and story-telling. We thank our students for teaching us more about the creative traditions of the Hmong culture!
